OOC: Sorry I've been gone. And yes, Noko IS that oblivious. But I kinda wish she would be brave enough to be all heroic like Loni. Maybe later on after all this trouble I'll introduce another character.
IC: The moment of decision. Be smart and go home, or be stupid like she had been for the entire night. Of course, Noko made the dumb choice and ran to the inn. Though, this time it was not to watch. A few small houses surrounded the inn, not many of them possessing people thankfully, but all the same, one of the houses was home to a sick girl and her grandmother. With the two being so close to the current battle and the horrid beast they were in danger if the fight got out of control, even though that was unlikely. Currently Karkais and Taliesin were so focused on each other that they didn't want someone else involved. But the old woman could have a panic attack, which would be unhealthy not to mention worrysome for the child.
Noko finally caught up and tugged on Loni's sleeve, whispering, "Loni, I'm going to be in that house over there. If anything bad happens during the fight, could you come and let me know?"

OOC: *blushes* You guuuuuys... stop it. x3 Okay, should I like... join NOW? o.o Like, Evie-bo-bevie suddenly arrives on the scene because she decided to follow Loni (I don't know why; I'll think of it, it probably has something to do with Thief xD) and she finds her in the town and is all like, "Hey shortie ^^ *looks at inn roof* ... Oh, did I arrive at a bad... *cough* time?" My dear clueless Eve. Or on the other hand, were you thinking I should wait to do my intro till after the whole battle thing is over? I'll wait for you peep's input. ^^ 'Thretened', Sadie? 'Duity'? x3

ooc: Youu better not!.. or I'll bring my noose!! ^.^ lol J/K J/K
ic: Karkais began dwindling the distance between the two of them as they remained in the circular path around the roof. Taliesin carefully placed each step as he gripped his sword to brace it for any attack. A low growl reverberated from within the beast's throat. "You won't win you foul mut," Taliesin said as Karkais stopped cirlcing around and took a step forward. Karkais laughed at his words, "Mut is actually the mother of all vulture headed beasts," Karkais said with a grin, "mine's a jackal incase you were so blind as not to notice." Taliesin made no reply, he carefully place his footing into a fighting stance and awaited Karkais to attack him. Karkais took the invitation with an agressive swing of his right kama; Taliesin quickly deflected it and took another step back and repositioned himself, "don't waste my time with a petty attack like that."

OOC: ... owch. There goes my self esteem. ~.~ *points to below* Teh family got a new horsie! ^^ 'Cuz I felt like it, and I imagine that walking all the way from [the place where they live -.-] to this town would be a little uncomfortable for Eve's old lady feet. xD Note the name and its similarity to the name of another horsie I could mention. x3 I <3 EVE AND DERIK!!!! IC: Derik looked across the table at Eve, one eyebrow raised. "Go after her, then."
Eve's head snapped up, formerly having been staring absently off into space, foot tapping restlessly on the floor and hands clenched in her lap, and she turned a piercing gaze at her husband. "What?"
Derik sighed, propping his elbows up on the table and resting his chin in the cradle of his hands. "I said, go after her," he repeated, meeting Eve's gaze calmly.
Eve frowned. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said irratibly.
Derik chuckled softly, pushed his chair back from the table and stood up. "Eve," he said, hands clasped behind his back as he began a slow walk around the circumfrance of the table to where his wife sat, "it's been about four weeks since Loni left on her latest good-deed-a-day excursion. And not once over the course of these twenty-eight days have you been able to sit in once place for a full five minutes without drumming your fingers on the table, pacing back and forth, tapping your feet, or gaping vacantly at nothing." He turned his face to the ceiling, focused intently on avoiding Eve's eyes. "Now, I seem to recall that, not terribly long ago, you went along with our daughter on one of these little trips and, as a result, met for yourself a young man she seemed rather interested in; and from what she tells me, you spent the entire remaining time keeping yourself planted firmly over their shoulders. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, Eve my darling," he said dryly, coming around to where she sat and kneeling by her side, "but it seems to me like you're a little anxious, because you're afraid that that incident is going to repeat itself, without you there to supervise." He lifted an eyebrow and smiled at her, squeezing her shoulder. "If I'm not providing pleasant enough company for you here, then by all means... go after her."
Eve stared across into Derik's warm brown eyes for a few moments. "... It's sweet of you to try and recreate Loni's presence in her much-missed absence, Derik," she finally repied, smirking pleasantly, "but, it's really okay. Sarcasm doesn't suit you."
"Speak for yourself."
Eve half-groaned, half-laughed, burying her face in her hands. "You're right. Damn you, I hate that." She peered out between her fingers. "You know you've been spending too much time around me when you start to be able to tell what I'm thinking."
Derik's eyes grew huge with terror. "Oh gods, you're right... quick, get out of here before I do it again."
Eve laughed, then got out of her chair with an exaggerated groan. "All right... I'll take Ember and follow her to... which direction was she headed this time, again?"
Derik looked thoughtful for a moment. "She started out north-east last time... which means she's heading east, if memory serves. Some town called Lorean."
Eve nodded, walking towards the door to the stable. "I'll just pack my bags, then--"
"Already been done," Derik cut her off.
Eve stopped, looking at her spouse in stunned silence. "... You're starting to scare me."
Derik's eyes twinkled. "That's why you married me."
Soon enough, he was leaning against the doorframe, and she was mounted on Ember, all set to leave. "I'll hurry back," she called to him, gently pulling on the reins to stop the horse from stomping. "I wouldn't want you getting too bored all here by yourself."
"Don't worry, I'll find ways to amuse myself," he responded. "I'm sure there are a few rocks back in the forest I could always carve my name into."
Eve rolled her eyes. "Let it GO, you know I was only teasing you." She smiled sincerely at him. "Goodbye, Derik. I love you."
He smiled back. "I love you, too, Eve... see you soon." As she started to trot off down the dusty road, he yelled after her, "Send Loni my apologies for my dumping her on you; tell her I couldn't stand having you around anymore!"
"Very funny, Derik!"Eve crested a hill, grateful to see, as the sun was setting in the sky, the town of Lorean spread out before her. If her daughter wasn't in the town, she couldn't, at least, have travelled far from it; she was on foot, so she was travelling more slowly. Galloping down the hill, she silently attempted to reassure herself that Loni hadn't yet met up with Thief; that even if she had, they wouldn't have... done anything... that was cause for worry. She took a breath, composing herself, and tried to look knightly and dignified as she and Ember ventured through the town gates and started down the cobblestone street. She looked in all directions, on street corners and in narrow alleys, for the familiar blonde-haired little nightmare she'd grown so fond of over the years. It seemed a pleasant little town, though there seemed to be noone about; the sidewalks were devoid of the usual sundown bustle, the doors were all closed and the shutters drawn. Frowning, Eve wondered what it was that kept people shut inside at such a relatively early hour, but she pressed on, still viligantly searching for her daughter, until... A broad smile lit up her tanned, mildly aged face, as she laid eyes on the distinctive sweater, skirt and boots; this was her, of course, right down to the characteristic feather. She hopped off her horse, too preoccupied by the relief of seeing she was alone (except for a young girl who was standing beside her, whom she didn't pay any particular attention to) to notice what the two were staring at. She walked straight up to Loni, tapped her on the shoulder and greeted her casually, "Hey, shortie. Did you miss me?"

OOC: I LOVED your post! Hoorah, the first writing of Derik not by Allene. It is a turning point, I say! And by the way, "circumfrance"? I believe you mean "circumference" ^^ IC: Loni jumped when she felt the hand on her shoulder. Whipping around at the ready, she realized it was only Eve. She sighed, closed her eyes, then turned back around to stare once more at the scene, saying, "Not now, Eve.", another trademark phrase of hers. "This is reeeeeally not the best time." She inwardly sighed. This was just Eve's way. These were her entrances. She can be so clueless sometimes. I swear, if I didn't love her so much I'd hate her.OOC: BTW, I found a few pics that are JUST what Loni looks like: Yar, it's Alison Lohman in White Oleander. ^^

Eve frowned, withdrawing her hand in puzzlement. "What, I don't see any--" she suddenly had the presence of thought to follow Loni's and the other child's gaze to the top of a decrepit old inn, where a frightening, canine-esque creature appeared to be locked in fierce combat with a wounded man. Her jaw dropped a little from the shock, then, after a few moments of awkward silence, she quietly replied with a sort of a trademark phrase of her own.
"... Oh."
However, she still maintained her dutiful cluelessness, despite her new awareness of the situation; taking a step towards Loni she leaned down and whispered anxiously in her ear, "Loni, who-- what is that?! And who's that girl; do you know her?"
