OOC: So, yeah. I have no clues as to her character right now for the most part, so pardon the double force of suck in the form of both vagueness and shortness! ~.~
Before Tobacco Joe even had the opportunity to go back and get her, a woman wandered out into the bar from the back door, her hands rested up on her head as she stuck bobby pins into her light brown hair in a vain attempt to create what might pass for an updo. Not too old, she was nontheless the senior of the four young people in the bar by 5 years or so. "Well, howdy fellas." She said as she approached, her faded red skirt swishing around her ankles. She let her long fingered hands fall to her sides, putting one on her hip. "Looks to me like ya'll are in want of some entertainment, hmm? We'll whip that up for you nice 'n quick." She met Penny's gaze, the two communicating only through a long established game of eye contact what she would be playing for the singer.

Jenny leaned coyly against the counter as Tobacco Joe finished filling the glasses. "You boys gonna be playin' cards tonight? You know how I love to watch."
"Oh, o'course." One of the men replied with a grin. "I don' think I got me enough o' Harry's money las' time."
"Shut yer mouth, I was jus' havin' a bad night is all!"
"Boys, boys! There's no need ta squabble." Jenny shook her head as she brought their drinks over on a small tray. Giving them all their drinks she took the tray back to the counter, whispering to Joe, "They always drink more when they're playin' cards."
By that point several other men had already straggled in and found places at the bar. "Welcome, fellas!" Jenny greeted them cordially.
"Evenin', Jenny!" called a man's voice from the doorway. She turned to see who it was, greeting him with a smile and a wave. "Well if it isn't Jim Harris."
The man was average height with thick red hair and was wearing a fashionable and expensive-looking vest. "I've brought you a present." As Jenny walked up to greet him he fished around in his pocket a moment before pulling out a small gold brooch that held a tiny pearl, handing it to her. "It isn't much..."
"Oh, no darlin' it's beautiful!" Jenny beamed as she turned the trinket over in her hands to inspect it. "I'll put it on right now." Looking down at her dress she pinned it at the middle of the low neckline, adjusting it for good measure. "How do I look?"
"Angelic, as always." Jim smiled sweetly, glancing downward momentarily.
"Oh... thank you..." Jenny tucked a loose lock of hair behind her ear and fiddled with the brooch.
Jim Harris was the son of a rancher who had amassed a small fortune out west, and of late he'd been paying particular attention to Jenny. It wasn't unusual for customers to give her gifts as tokens of affection and appreciation, but this was the third present he'd brought for her that month.
"Oh, um, can I get y'all a drink?" she asked, straightening up.
"Only if I can get you one." The two of them walked up to the bar together and Joe poured their respective drinks into shot glasses.
Sitting in his chair at the table near the bar, Carter scowled and looked the other way. He did not like the idea of his little sister flirting with saloon patrons, but there was very little he could do about it, especially since it was a safe and reliable source of income.
"Bottoms up!" Jenny chimed as the two of them downed their drinks in unison.

I'm a postin' X3 IC:
Across the room, Corbitt watched the newcomer out of the corner of his eye. One could hardly help it, as he glittered almost as much as the showgirls. He wrinkled his nose momentarily. As Jenny flounced her way over to greet the man, he could tell Carter was scowling. But then again, when didn't he? Corbitt almost laughed to himself. Almost. As he gazed on, he could see the glint of a trinket being passed from the man's hands to Jenny's. She turned it over, and pinned it to her dress. A brooch... Jenny was smiling that sweet smile of hers, the corners of her eyes softly curving up as she looked up into the rich customer's face. Corbitt's mind suddenly turned to how many times she had smiled for him that way, and he realized it wasn't many. As the two turned and walked side by side, something in the region of his stomach twisted and knotted without warning. He shifted in his seat minutely, and tore his gaze away.

OOC: Through eye contact, huh? XD Not ... sure how to do that.
IC:
Penny watched the frequent visitor come up to the bar with Jenny, the two of them chatting happily as they partook of their beverages, not thinking much of it - it was good business, that was all. She doubted, however, that Corbitt would be able to make that distinction. Glancing at him out of the corner of her vision as she made her way towards the stage, where Patsy waited beside the piano, she saw his discontented look and fought the urge to roll her eyes. Men, she thought.
She reached Patsy and, fussily reaching up to rearrange her accompanist's hair into something more elegant, said "I think we'll warm 'em up with an old classic this fine afternoon. What d'you say?" She at last abandoned her efforts with the hair and patted her on the shoulder. "E flat major, if ya please." With that she turned and climbed the steps to the stage, coming to the front and arranging herself in a demure fashion, eyes cast down, hands clasped in front of her.
The piano started in with a flourishing scale, and Penny recalled the first time she'd performed this song - her debut night at the Hoot 'n' Holler, she had started out uncertain, but gained momentum as it became clear that her outfit was doing most of the work for her. So much had happened since then... as the instrumental beginning drew to a close, she lifted her face, wearing an enticing smile, and looked directly across the room to where Carter sat. Let's see just how long you can be all superior, mister.
The melody began softly. "Dearest friends, dear gentlemen... listen to my song." She opened her arms invitingly. "Life down here's been hard for you, life has made you strong..." She batted her eyelashes. "Let me lift the mood..." trailing a finger slowly up her leg, the fabric of her skirt rising with it, one could just make out the barrel of the small pistol tucked in her garter. "With my attitude..."
OOC: Oh that girl. 9.9 Yay for the song from The Great Mouse Detective being the only one I know that sounds passibly Western!! XD I need to do my research.

OOC: *flees the fish...!* Here... ~.~ I forgot.
Patsy smiled as her friend took the stage, Penny's voice ringing out through the tavern. Her performance was rather stunning, as always. Not one of their customers had ever avoided being distracted by the young woman's... talents. Especially the man sitting in the corner, who was trying to ignore the performance. She rolled her eyes, her fingers playing about the keys perfectly without her having to think about it, they'd repeated the pattern so many times. She hadn't been exceedingly privy to the actions of the two... or rather, four, (she wasn't blind, after all,) lovers scattered among the room, but she still knew that he would probably be turning around and gaping about sixteen measures from now.
OOC: Shortness... oh well.

"Isn't she just somethin'?" Jenny commented to Jim, admiring her friend's performance.
"Yes, she really is talented." He replied cordially over the hooting of the patrons, nodding and looking down at the counter. "Though, her voice doesn't hold a candle to your smile..." He then looked over at her, grinning a little sheepishly."
"Well I declare!" Jenny smiled back, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. "Ain't you just the charmer?"
Off in the corner Carter sat with his hat pulled down low, but in a matter of moments he had no choice but to tilt the brim back in order to get a better look at Penny's alluring display. Damn... he thought, a smirk creeping across his face. No matter how many times he saw the show he was always just as....... well, you could say impressed. I wonder what these other guys would do to be in my shoes?
He glanced over to the bar where he could see Jenny flirting with that rancher. That man... He thought with a scowl. What the hell is he doin' comin' in here like that anyway? He better not just be messin' with her...
"Awright, Jim." Jenny said, standing up. "I'd love to keep chattin', but I got a job to do."
"Oh, of course! Don't let me keep you from your work."
She smiled and gave him a wink before sauntering away over to a group of men who had nearly all finished their drinks, Jim's eyes following her the whole way there.
"So...."
Jim was startled at the gruff voice and looked up to see Tobacco Joe standing in front of him. "Oh... hello."
"So, y'all're pretty friendly there wi' Jenny."
Jim was beginning to feel very uncomfortable as Tobacco Joe simply stood there with one hand on the counter, staring down at him. "Well.... she's a very sweet young lady."
"Tha' she is.... and y'all are bein' awful sweet on her, I 'spect." Joe's expression was practically unreadable.
"What.... do you mean by that?"
"Nuthin'. All I'm sayin' is tha' givin' pretty things to a gal like y'all are doin'... gives a gal ideas."
"Well," Jim said, resolve in his face, "Perhaps she has the right idea."
"I jus' hope, fer yer sake, tha' she don't got the wrong idea." A tense silence passed between them, but it was broken by Jenny bounding up to the bar with a smile on her face.
"Those gentlemen over there need some more whiskey. Four of 'em."

I'm posting now, since I was bashed for being lazy. ^^;;;
As all this began to unfold, Corbitt was playing a mental game of badminton. He couldn't hear what was being said over at the bar, and so he didn't know what to make of it all. He had to admit a tingle of hope as Jenny left the rich boy sitting at the counter to return to her usual occupation of getting groups to buy more whiskey than they needed. That was good. His mental birdie shot to the other side of the net. Or was it? Out of the corner of his eye he saw Tobacco Joe leaning on the counter slightly, looking down on the rancher at the bar. Something in the image of the old bartender looming so menacingly brought a satisfied smirk to his lips, and the birdie returned to the other side of the net. Suddenly, whether is was a chord on the piano or a chord in his mind, something struck. Leaning forward on his elbows, he laced his fingers together and put them before the lower half of his face. He had the racket in hand, and he had an idea.

OOC: Postin' time! ^o^ Did they play badmitton back then...? XD GUYS CHECK THIS OUT: lonehand.com/ Freekin AWESOME Western info source! So many songs!! And most of them with sin in them!! >w< To heck with you, Cowboy Jubilee. Penny's so happy... IC: "Let me, be good... to... you!" Penny finished triumphantly, watching the room slowly fill with the usual crowd - working men coming in at the end of the day, worn out and looking to be entertained. Smiling at the applause she received, she replied with a few benevolent "thank you, gentlemen"s, sending a wink Carter's way before kneeling down by the edge of the stage to speak to Patsy. "How about Fair Lady of the Plains; pick it up a little, give 'em something to dance to." With these words she rose and returned to the center of the scaffold, announcing spiritedly "Alright fellas, find yerself a partener and clear the floor; the next number's gonna be a toe-tapper!" She waited a moment as people shuffled around their chairs and tables to make a space in the middle of the room. Then at her nod, Patsy began the introduction - and a few moments later, she took a breath and started the first verse of the old cowboy song. "There was a fair lady who lived on the plains, she helped me herd cattle through hard stormy rains; she helped me one season all through the roundup, she would drink with me from the cold bitter cup. She loved the red liquor which serves a man so, she was a fair lady as white as the snow." A few patrons invited some of the waitresses to dance, and Penny's eyes drifted to Corbitt. I wonder if he's up to it?
