OOC: Ummmmmmm..... LOL
Well, hm, let's think of Loni's personality. She's snotty, stubborn, manipulative, yet clever. You cold do something of how she was interacting with other kids her age, perhaps? I might be able to think something up... lol

OOC: Sadie is awesome and she wrote me a whole big post about a troublesome situation Loni got herself into that Eve can pass on xD SO EVERYBODY THANK SADIE!! IC: Eve sighed, smiling as she drank a third of her cider in one gulp after the lengthy tale. "All right, fine, but after this it's one of YOUR turns to tell tales of home," she stated matter-of-factly. Coughing to clear her throat, she said, "Well, this is less of a humorous tale and... well, I personally think part of it is humorous," she added bemusedly, "but for the most part it's a tale that really speaks of Loni's personality." She smiled warmly again, and began. "It started when she came home after another one of my attempts to get her to interact with children her own age, make some friends, perhaps; but anyway, she had been at a neighbor's house and... well, I'll just tell the story." The knight could remember that warm afternoon quite distinctly... *** Loni sat in a chair at home, brooding silently. She had her feet pulled up in front of her with her knees in the air and her arms crossed. Eve, walking into the room, didn't think too much of it, as it wasn't unlike her daughter to be acting in such a manner. Still, she wondered what could have spurred it this time. "Loni, what's wrong?" she asked, kneeling down beside the chair. "Ugh, don't kneel like that. I'm not a baby. At least sit or something." Loni ordered darkly, turning away. Trying to hide her amusement Eve complied, sitting in a seat near her. "Okay, now are you going to tell me what happened?" From where she sat she couldn't see Loni's face because the girl's knees were in the way, but she could see a bit of blond hair peeping up from behind. Loni was silent for a moment, the said quietly, "It's those... children." Eve nodded, still a bit confused. "Um, who?" "Those CHILDREN you forced me to be around!" Loni exclaimed, bringing her feet to the floor violently. "Why did you make me meet them, anyway?! I'm FINE on my own!" Eve was a bit surprised, not having heard her say that in a while, though it was certainly not the first time she had been told by Loni of her independance. "Oh... well, anyway, what about them?" The teenager slumped back in her chair again, though she didn't bring her knees back up. "They're just stupid. Just stupid children..." Yet again came another of Loni's favorite things to say. "Hmm? What makes you say that?" Eve had learned to be much more inquisitive and understanding of Loni's feelings. At first she couldn't figure out what this girl wanted, but now she knew that she just wanted someone to listen to her and understand her. Loni kept her hard scowl, but her cheeks turned a bit pink. "Well FIRST of all, that girl, Jayne, she... she wanted me to play DOLLS with her! That's so stupid! And then Michael tried to scare me with a frog. A FROG! He's an idiot! Plain and simple. He's always calling me... Loony Loni..." Her eyes darted downward, and she paused. "The frog obviously didn't scare ME, but Jayne, that stupid girl, she threw her doll in the grass and practically climbed to the top of the nearest tree! And that idiot, Michael, he kept waving that frog in my face! Of course it was disgusting, so I backed away, and he said that I was afraid! He wouldn't stop calling me a... a fraidy cat..." she paused again. "So I punched him. I BARELY even touched him though! He's just a sissy!" *** Eve paused in her retelling, hiding a small laugh. "I suppose that's the part I found funny," she said, "she's so very much like me when I was her age, I guess I just couldn't help but relate." Taking another swig of cider she continued... *** "So he went and ran home crying to his mommy, and then SHE came out and told me off, saying that I shouldn't 'play' there any more. When I explained that I didn't even want to be there, and that he's just an idiot, she actually SHOOED me away!" Pausing again, she turned pinker. She turned her head away and added, "The next part's just stupid..... you don't want to hear it." Leaning toward Loni, Eve retorted, "Loni, don't put words into my mouth. I want to hear the rest of the story." "FINE... but it's just stupid. When... when I was walking home... I heard her say that... that you... and Derik... that you're a bad influence on me." By this point she was fully scarlet. "That's just so stupid... that someone would... say that... I would have gone and punched her too... but I wouldn't want to punch someone's mother... and I was almost home anyway..." She trailed off and she began nervously rubbing her neck. Eve was smiling softly as Loni finished the recount of her afternoon. Then, tentatively, she reached out and placed a hand on her daughter's knee, replying, "Please, don't be abashed; that makes me very proud, Loni." She tried to look her in the eyes, though her face was hidden from sight, and said, "Hearing that you're not afraid to stand up for yourself, and that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt who you are and aren't afraid to show it..." she smiled. "Well it makes me feel like a real parent. I suspect you're tired of hearing this, but, you're really very much like I was when--" "When you were my age," Loni finished sourly, though Eve could tell she was smiling, too. "More than tired of it, Eve." She unfolded her legs and gave her mother an annoyed look. "You've only told me a hundred times." Eve sighed. "I suppose it was a little foolish of me to even try and get into anything resembling sentimentiality with you, wasn't it, then?" She stood up, smiling ironically. "Let's just leave it at this: try to deal with conflict without an excess of punching, and I'll stop telling you you were just like me when I was your age." She extended a hand. "Deal?" Loni paused, and then, returning the smile, reached out and shook Eve's hand. "Deal." She, too, stood up and said promptly, "Okay, moment over, swordfighting lessons now." Eve chuckled, and the two headed outside, still teasing eachother loudly. *** Eve had swallowed all of her drink and was grinning as she finished the story. "Aaah, I could go on forever about her."

Limlight looked quite surprised for a moment, then smiled. "Wow. That's amazing. I-I guess I never really knew that having a family could sound -or even be- so great. See, this little guy's pretty much all I got..." Limlight unbuckled her large side-pouch, and a furry, whiskered nose poked out of it. Slowly, she reached her hands into the pouch, and pulled out a small marten. "His name's Greylin, but I just call him Grey." She giggled softly as Greylin stuck his nose into her ear and sniffed loudly. "Anyways, Loni seems very special as a family member to you." Limlight then muttered softly to herself, "Sometimes I wish I had a real family..."

OOC: lol and here come Lim's smilies again <^.^> IC:
Sadria sighed longingly, leaning on her elbow. "See what you've done? You've made us all jealous! That's it, you've given me NO choice but to tell you stories of FREEDOM!" She grinned cheekily.
"Okay, lemme think. Oh! Okay, a while back I was staying at an inn. I was in the common room, and all of my gear was upstairs in my room. Well, it was my first night in this town, and this peacock of a man swaggered up and tried to talk to me. I was in no mood for annoyances, so I just ignored him. Well, I just sat there in my chair, drinking my ale, while he just kept talking. After a bit he stopped talking, I guess expecting me to say something, or at least generally acknowledge him. When I didn't, he started to get angry. Still, I didn't talk, as I was starting to have fun." She cracked an impish smile, before continuing, "Eventually he got to the point where he grabbed my arm and pulled me to standing. Well, I didn't hesitate to slug him in the face, and tell him to shove off."

"Goodness, Sadria!!" exclaimed Limlight. "I didn't know you had ever punched anyone! I thought I was supposedly the "violent" one!" She smiled, took a sip of cider, and stroked Greylin once more, for he had become unsettled from Limlight's sudden uproar of surprise. OOC: Haha!! Another attack of the smilies, for you, Evie!!

Sadria blinked, then said, "You.... thought that I'm not violent? You thought that I'M not violent? Umm....." Sh then laughed and commented, "I suppose we need to spend more time together!" She took another drink before inquiring, "So, who has to tell a story now?"

OOC: *twitches* THE SMILIES!! NOOOOO-- actually I think it's cute xD
IC:
Eve, who had been in the middle of stealing a large sip from Sadria's untouched mug of cider, suddenly stopped and splurted a mouthful of the drink all over her lap and the bar counter at Limlight's words. Coughing and laughing simultaineously, causing her eyes to water furiously, she somehow managed to reply, "... Oh... oh, miss Lim, oh my goodness... that..." she lifted her face, wiping her lips on her sleeve, "that was the hardest I've laughed in a very long time." Grinning, she added quickly, "No offense meant, of course. It's just that... I didn't think anybody could get the impression that Sadria here wasn't violent." Chuckling again at the notion, she pushed her friend's cider glass back towards her and said, "Well, now that's over; in response to your question about who should go next, it certainly won't be YOU; not if you're going to keep tormenting me with stories about the freedom of the open road." She glared at her light-heartedly. "That was cruel."

Sadria chuckled, then said, "Well, I suppose it's this one's turn, then.", giving Lim a poke in the arm.
"And while she thinks of a story, I'm going to clean up your little mess." Sadria good naturedly grabbed a rag and wiped down the counter, then playfully threw a clean one in Eve's face. "For your lap."

Eve pulled a wry smile at Sadria and plucked the cloth off her face, then coiled the end and whipped it playfully at her friend's hand before mopping up the cider off her lap. "Yes, miss L-- that is to say, Limlight," she said without looking up, "please do share with us."

"Well, I don't many stories to tell that wouldn't bore you half to death...But...let me think...oh! I know! I'll tell you about when the territory of Mirklorien collasped and I first met Sadie, here!" Limlight said playfully and winked at Sadria. "Well, then, let's see..." She spoke softly for a moment, put her finger to her lips, as if in deep thought, and began.
***
In a field of honeysuckle and many other flowers, there is a small, young girl, along with a young boy playing in the fields. "Betcha can't catch me!!" Yelled Limlight (the young girl) and ran off playfully and somewhat slow. "I know your tricks, but you're too slow!!" Yelled a young boy, by the name of Rune. He quickly ran after Limight, and almost caught up to her, when, at that very moment, she took off running as fast as the wind. Almost literally. "Ha ha! You gotta be faster than that, Rune!!" Limlight yelled as she got farther and farther away from him. "Hey!! Slow down, Lim! LIM!!" Rune suddenly stopped, plopped down onto the ground and started coughing, totally out of breath. Limlight quickly ran up to him. "Hey, Rune, you okay??" She said. She then finally noticed how hard Rune was coughing. "RUNE!! I thought you said you were better! I didn't know you were still sick!!" She practically screamed as she waved her arms up and down. "W-well...you're right! I'm not sick anymore!!" Rune yelled, jumped up, tagged Limlight hard on the shoulder, and ran off, adding, "Ha HA!! You're it!! Betcha can't catch ME!!" "Rune! Why you-!" Limlight exclaimed and ran after Rune. Just then, there was a huge, booming sound, and the forest in front of the two young ones erupted in flame. Unfortunately, Rune was only a few feet away from the forest and almost immediately engulfed in flames. "RUNE!!" Limlight screamed and ran toward the forest, jumping into the flame. She saw Rune, lying on his side, coughing from all the smoke. "Oh, thank goodness, you're all right..." Limlight said greatfully and hugged Rune tightly. "Y-yeah...I'm fine...b-but, Limlight! You've got burns all over you!!" He exclaimed. Another explosion sounded, much closer this time. "LIMIGHT! LIM!!" Rune screamed as his best friend was engulfed in flames. "Rune! RUNE!! Dammit, where the hell are you?!!" Limlight yelled, oblivious to the fact that Rune was alive and looking for her also. Slowly, the temperature of the flames got hotter and hotter, and Limlight felt her conciousness slipping away from her. "N-no...Rune...NO!!" She yelled as she lost conciousness. ***
A while later, whether it was hours or minutes, Limlight did not know, she awoke, to see a small furry, weasel-looking animal sitting on top of her, trying to keep her warm. "H-hmm??" She rasped, confused. She tried to sit up, but found she was so exhausted she could not move. "Damn." She said simply. She then remembered what had happened earlier. "Oh no...RUNE!" Her voice only escaped her mouth as a slight rasp. "Oh no, oh, no...DAMMIT!!" She yelled and unsettled the creature sitting on her chest. "Huh? Oh, I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to startle you...hey...you're a marten aren't you??" The marten bobbed his head up and down, as if he was nodding. "Hmmm...what should I name you?? Oh, I know! How about Greylin??" Asked Limlight. The marten licked her face in approval. She noticed that his breath smelled like raw meat. "Eeeewww!" She said, and giggled slightly. After a little while, Limlight felt her conciousness slipping again, but this time, very slowy. "Great..." She whispered. Just then, the figure of a small girl bent down and looked Limlight straight in the face. Limlight put on a look of pure surprise and confusion. "Huh? Wha-?" She rasped. Just then, the girl knelt and felt Limlight's forehead. "Owich!!" Limlight exclaimed as the girl accidentally touched a burn. "Oh! Sorry! Are you alright? I didn't mean to hurt you!" The young one exclaimed. Limlight nodded slightly, seeing as she couldn't move very well. Greylin, seeing the young girl come to a close range, jumped up and darted away. "Huh? What was THAT??" The girl asked, then added, "My name's Sadria. What's yours?" "L-Limlight..." replied Limlight. She then had a slight coughing attack, and everything went black. ***
Limlight groaned and cracked her eyes open. She was in a small cabin, underneath the warm covers of a very soft bed. She also noticed that she had a wet cloth on her head, and bandages on all her burns. 'W-where am I? And what happened to Rune?' She thought. She then sat up slowly, and saw Sadria sitting in front of her. Limlight smiled. "Wanna be friends?" She asked. Sadria smiled. ***
"That's all I can remember..." Limlight said, somewhat cheerfully. "It's not as good as your story, Eve...but it's the best I've got!" She exclaimed as she smiled and shrugged.

Through the story, Sadria was looking down at her feet, and by the end was a vivid and vibrant shade of crimson. "Lim... why do you always have to tell THAT one?" she mumbled, not at all her usual self. "The part with me... it's just silly."
But I know why she tells it. I'd tell it too. I suppose I just... I just can't really express much... emotion. Why can't I, though? Am I afraid, or something? I guess in that respect I'm like Loni. Me, like Loni? That's something I've never thought about before. But who can blame her? Who can blame me? Though... we are different in that aspect, too. I'm willing to get close to people, I just don't like to show it. Loni on the other hand... but she's been through something much worse. With the way I live, it would be pretty difficult for something like that to happen to me. She's a brave kid, though. A really brave kid. Again, her thoughts led back to the reason she was blushing so furiously. Maybe... I'm afrad of someone depending on me. I don't want what happened with Ream to happen again... but at any rate,
"It is awfully... sweet of you to tell that story though, Lim. After all, it's the story of how we met, and how I saved your rear end." Some of the pink faded from her cheeks, and she cracked a wry smile. "And I know what happens next in the story."

"Go on, then!" Limlight encouraged Sadria with a nudge in the arm. "All I remember is everything going black for a while..." She said in a lofty voice as she rested her chin in her hands and looked up toward the heavens dreamily. "Anyway, have a go, Sadie-kun!!" Limlight teased, knowing that -at least, long ago, anyway- Sadria despised having the title "kun" -or any other label, for that matter- at the end of her name. OOC: Tee hee! This is GREAT!! ...
