I'm not sure how many of us are participating, but I thought we could discuss here. I know Hanna is doing this with me. I started early because Im going to be on an ATF tour for the last ten days of April, so I figured five extra days isn't actually cheating. Anyways I thought it would be fun to be able to post excerpts and talk about our problems and ... procrastinate together. Anyways, is anyone interested in some discussion? Cuz I am.

I personally would love to do this if Maddie and Ashley will help me write the first episode of Sixth Floor. That might be cheating doing it with partners but I don't really care.

Actually now and of course throughout the month would be a fantastic time for me to be getting some help with this. Yes, I'm doing Screnzy as usual, and I have characters, and I have a setting, but it starts in 4 days and I don't have a plot... so yeah. xD Seems like a fine idea for us to have a place to work out ideas and such. And yeah, if you know you won't be writing for five days at the end of the month, you're not cheating starting five days early. As long as you write 100 pages in 30 days, I don't think it really matters which 30 days.

Thats what I figured. As for Christine, Partners is legal, though technically only one. You just put their name in as your writing partner on your profile and they put in their's or you could just do it as a trio.
But as far as characters and ideas without plot, I have a pretty intense cast, created in tribute to some of my favorite pieces of Sci-Fi/Fantasy, The main ones posted on dA. The title is Darwin's cage. It illustrates what I see as one possible, fictionalized but logical, outcome of a completely secular naturalistic worldview in our culture and government. Her is something of a trailer that I wrote, I think it communicates the basics of the plot background and the world we're in pretty well (also posted on Zhura as Darwin's Cage)
EXT. Barren desert - NIGHT JAE - a haggard war worn man of forty or so dressed in gray with a blackish over coat missing the left sleeve - and PETRI - a very sci-fi looking character, about 21 or so with dullish green hair swept across his face, dressed in corresponding green - sit on a rock looking out over the vast distance of nothing. Petri What happened? JAe Everything Beat petRI I meant specifically We see flashes of a war, the countries involved are vague, but we see that it is definitely a western force (America/Europe) against an Eastern one (China/Japan) JAE (Voice over throughout) The fight over land was long over, but we still found things to wage wars over. The fight became man verses man. Weapons could advance no further Now a series of shots from laboratories, growing humans. Pretty standard, incubation tanks and row upon row of identical humans JAE So we had to advance ourselves. But the forces of natural selection had long since deserted the human population. But so determined we were to become better. to become more capable, more intelligent, we played God. Shots of test subjects, People of different color schemes being grown and trained. A group of identicals in all black march through, JAE Some were soldiers. A group in purples, JAE Some were grown to think A group in yellows, JAE Eventually we were even driven to use our own kind as energy sources, as weapons, and some... Through that last line we flash through several groups of people, and now we rest on one person, (tastefully) naked and alone in the dark, crawling on all fours across a tiny cell JAE for reasons to awful to imagine. EXT. baRREN DESERT - DAWN A moment or two of silence, Jae breathing heavily, Petri staring mournfully into the distance. petri What happens now? JAE Now? Beat PETRI Yes, the war is...over. At least for the moment. What do we do now? jAE Now. We live. The sun crests the horizon, the light creeps over them. petri Sometimes I feel as though I'm trapped. JAE We all are. We're locked in the cage Darwin built for us. Jae stands and dusts himself off, and turns to leave, jae cont'd And at this rate, none of us will escape.
It copied a little funny, but you get it. I'm kind of just going for it, not structuring it as a movie or a TV show just trying for 100 pages. Hanna, what are yyour characters and setting, we could do some plot doctoring if you like?

I'd be willing to help when you needed me, but I wouldn't mind not actually being a "partner" I certainly wasn't planning on participating in screnzy myself because of the comic, but I'd do what you needed.

So hai juys. I didn't get started yet (really, working on a screenplay in Hawaii? No. Just no.) Meaning I'll be starting/catching up today. I think I can BS it for awhile but I don't know if I can get to 9 pages just yet... will probably have to catch up gradually. My characters are a bunch of semi-supernatural beings, for the most part. Some are just plain genetic hybrids between humans/animals, such as Charkeen who is a lizardperson... some are genetic hybrids who, during the process of being created, acquired weird semi-magic powers stuff, such as the Bastians, who are catpeople. After enough of a certain type of hybrid was created, (I don't know what for yet...) they would start breeding on their own, thus making them a race, thus making it illegal by some universal ethical law that I just made up to continue creating them genetically. Other species, like the centaurs and dark elves, are actual naturally occurring magical beings that are also involved in this... whatever it is. The centaurs are extinct ex. Silvias, who is a main character - the drow (dark elves) are alive but in hiding from... something... I'm not sure what yet. As are some of the hybrid species. The main characters (of which there are five, but one of them doesn't have anything resembling character yet) are Natalia, a drow, Charkeen, a lizardperson... forget the actual species name I thought up for those guys... Silvias, a centaur (as I said), Shemra, a Bastian/catperson, and fifth main character who... has no character yet. :3 And they're all part of a resistance guerilla group fighting against the... unnamed enemy... thing. Which used to be tiny and then grew.
Any suggestions to fill in the gaping plotholes?

Plotholes? You haven't even reached the point of plotholes yet. You've barely given us a premise XD

xD Holes in the plot that barely exists. Like who the crap these evil guys are supposed to be.
Oh, and I made that sound weird. The guerilla group was tiny then big. The evil guys are just... big and evil... and the same tired plot device I always use.

At this point...I say just start writing and let the characters figure it out for you. Thats how I always do it. As for evil guys you could always use the old Sci-Fi standby of the scientists who started the biological engineering process. wanting toeradicate species they deem unworthy, or a threat to their control...But thats kind of my plot...
Question mark of my own here, I've got a set of characters, seven in number who are a shared consciousness. They are basically all so strongly psychicly linked that they share one brain, in essence. Each one wears a different color and their hair is the same color. when addressed individually they are named by whatever color they are, but when referring to the whole group I've been calling them "The Ladies" any ideas for a better title?

I have a plot! Huzzah! *does a dance*
I'm wondering about things there are seven of you could relate to this. Seven heavenly virtues? You could call them Virtues. I don't know how well that fits.

... Wow.
So this evening, about thirty minutes ago, I had the ultimate triumph of writing 100 pages in 30 days and winning. Yay!
The problem?
'Kay. So the plot made no sense. It was like, just banter, and nothing, and empty and pointless. For about 96 pages.
And then? On page 97, the characters told me the real plot.
So for the last THREE PAGES, it rocks socks.
But I think I'm going to have to rewrite... the entire... freakin'... thing.
... Bittersweet doesn't even begin to cover it.
Well.
More pissed off at their funny little 'JK! That wasn't the REAL plot!' joke actually.
... D:
