OOC: Yup! ^^ I put the thing about Cindy's father managing a Home Depot in as another special attribute... there'll be two-by-fours, weed whakers, chainsaws, etc. at their immediate disposal. ^.~ Hoorah for the Home Depot! IC: Cindy's father stared at the boy standing on their doorstep, his hand still on the knob, his face frozen. After a few moments of silence, he said hesitantly, "Uhhh... hello, young man... are you, um, are you hurt?" * * * Meanwhile, Cindy continued down the sidewalk, her hair streaming in the wind created by her speed. The light was waning, she noted nervously, as she rounded a corner... though she wasn't easily spooked, everything always seemed just a little freakier at night. "And it's hard to get freakier than zombies in Centoria..." she murmured to herself out loud. She hoped she'd arrive at the park soon. And arrive soon she did, straightening her legs and bringing the bike to a halt as she stared at the crowd of onlookers she'd seen on the news clip. She hopped off the bike and walked it towards the crowd, becoming increasingly unnerved. A mere prank wouldn't have attracted such a big group. She shouldered her way through the bodies to the front, her breath catching in her throat as she laid eyes on the supposed zombie. It was even more revolting in person, with decayed flesh dangling off its stub of a shoulder, its mouth agape, its eyes rolled back in its head, as it stumbled slowly around within the broad circle that had formed around it. She automatically took a small step backwards, gagging at the sight and turning her face away... "Hold on... it appears as though someone is approaching the creature." Cindy looked up at the words, spoken by a closeby news reporter. She followed the woman's gaze to a middle-aged man cautiously edging his way towards the thing in the center of the circle. Total silence had fallen over the crowd, their eyes all glued to the two beings before them. The alleged zombie appeared to have taken note of the man's approach, and turned towards him with a frightening, throaty noise. The man continued forward, and Cindy watched in transfixed horror until he was a mere yard or so from the thing. Not one of the onlookers dared breathe, as he squinted at what remained of its face for a second before saying, "Frank?..." He took another step toward it, reaching out a hand, his eyes wide and disbelieving; "Frank, is that yo--" Before the man could finish his sentance, the monster snarled and lunged at him, its jaw opening wide and latching onto his head, its one arm grasping at his clothes. He screamed, and then the panic truly began; the members of the crowd running every which way, shrieks piercing the still air. Cindy stood motionless, frozen with fear, her knuckles white as she clung to the handles of her bicycle. Oh my God... she thought over and over, oh my God, oh my God...OOC: I don't know if I did zombies accurately. XD Sadie, you'll have to tell me - you're the zombie enthusiast. Poor, poooor Frank... turned into a zombie.

OOC: That's some nice zombie-ness, Evey! ;D Time for Drake to freak out xD IC: "Er... uh... ahem... no sir, I'll be fine." Drake finally blurted out. "Is Cindy home?" Cindy's father looked at him with an unbelieving look on his face. "I'm afraid not, young man, what did you want with her?" Drake's heart sank, as he realized he nearly killed himself, for nothing. Drake disregarded the man's question, and asked his own. "Where'd she go?" He almost demanded. "S-she went to the park... are you sure you're okay?" Drake just stood there, his eyes widening with every passing millisecond. Cindy's father asked again, "Are you okay?" but Drake continued to stare at him. She... she went to the park... no... why would she go to the park at this hour? Unless... she knew... but... why?! If she knew, why would she endanger her own life? Drake finally collapsed to his knees, and the tears he had held back all day poured out of his eyes. "W-why?! Why did she have to go?! What was she thinking?!" Cindy's father began to stare at the young boy, now sobbing at his doorstep. He wanted to speak, but he couldn't make the words come out. Drake did his best to stop the tears, and he wiped his eyes, his arm was now dripping wet. "I-I-I've gotta... go... I'm... sorry for the... trouble..." Drake stood up, and nodded a goodbye to the man he had just sobbed in front of. Drake turned around, and began limping toward the park. He knew he should just go to Tasha's, but somehow, he knew he had to do everything possible to save Cindy. He had to protect her, he had to. OOC: I tried to make him a character you could feel sorry for, and relate to, but I think I made him more... blah... C( )D

OOC: No no, I like him a lot! ^o^ He's very noble and sweet, I can definately feel sorry for him <3
IC:
Cindy's father watched as the boy started to make his way down the sidewalk, his brow furrowed with concern. It seemed as though the boy was saying that Cindy was in some kind of danger... "Now, wait a moment--" he called after him, then, seeming to make up his mind, he ducked back inside the house momentarily. "Honey," he addressed his wife, "I'm going to go pick up Cindy in the car; I'll back in no time." With these words, he hastened to the garage, grabbed the keys off a hook on the wall, and hopped into the family's van. Starting the vehicle and pulling out onto the road, he drove the car up next to the sidewalk where Drake was hurriedly limping along. "If this concerns my daughter's safety," he said gravely, rolling down the window, "I need you to get in, and tell me what's going on."

OOC: Yay, I've never made a character like dat before! ;D Thanks ya Shmoe. Here's a line from Deja Vu which fits perfectly with this next post, "What if you had to tell someone something... but you knew you wouldn't believe you?" "I'd try." Oh, and YAY FOR ADT JOINING!
IC:
Drake was once again torn up into two sides. If I go with him, then he could ruin my plan... if I don't... I might not... make it... "Um... I... have a headache..." Drake grabbed his head and groaned. "You have no idea how many decisions I had to make today... and every decision could end up killing someone..." Cindy's father's eyes widened and he knew his daughter was in danger.
"Get in the car. Now." Cindy's father demanded. Drake opened the door of the van, sat inside and closed the door. "What I'm about to tell you... you'll never believe... but your daughter could be in serious danger because of it... so you have to listen... there's a zombie in the park."
Cindy's father slammed on the breaks, and turned to stare at Drake. "What the hell are you talking about?" "You need to believe me, I'm telling the truth! Unless you want to just let your doughtier stay in danger, put your right foot... on the right pedal..." Drake was starting to think it might be faster to go on foot, when Cindy's father suddenly slammed on the gas. Now we're back in business!
"D-d-did they... bite you?!" "No, I got bloody by trying to save your daughter's life, but I'll be fine." Drake became aware of his knee wounds, and how much they hurt. Drake saw the park in the distance, and he realized...
Cindy might not be okay... He squinted and saw somebody... somebody holding firmly onto a bike... Oh god... if it's Cindy... she's in danger... if it's not... we'll never find her... Drake gulped and tried to figure out who the figure was. They got closer, and saw the stumbling figure in the park...
Drake glimpsed at Cindy's father, and he was shaking considerably. They got a little closer, and Drake got a good look at the person staring at the park.
"IT'S CINDY!" Drake shouted, and opened the door. "CINDY, GET AWAY FROM THE PARK!"

Ooc; I don’t know if that was addressed to me or not, but it is now. xD
Ic; Fraya stared at the boy who had yelled at her as he ran past. “Whoa, what? Why? What’s going on?” she called. She put her hand into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone. Opening it as she ran after the boy, she dialed a familiar number and put the phone to her ear.
She gave the boy a slightly panicked look as the phone rang over and over again. Fraya shook her head and closed the phone. She opened it again and dialed the same number begging in a whisper “Please pick up, please pick up.”

Cindy whirled around with an alarmed little gasp when she heard her name, and squinted as she was greeted by a blinding pair of headlights. She heard the same voice that had cried out a moment ago shout, "CINDY, GET AWAY FROM THE PARK!" She trembled weakly, trying to process what she'd just witnessed. Some part of herself willed her legs to move towards the car, but she was still petrified. Just then she realized... the screams from the park had stopped. Slowly, she turned her head towards the grassy expanse, and she felt a chill run down her spine as she saw that the zombie had finished with the man - laying a short distance away, mangled beyond recognition - and had fixed its gaze on her. As it took an unsteady step in her direction, Cindy heard another voice; someone different this time, from somewhere along the street. "Hey, it might be a good idea if you... RAN!"
It was just enough to snap her out of it, and, abandoning her bike, Cindy turned on her heel and ran towards the car. Her desperate strides rapidly brought her to the vehicle, and, recognizing it as her family's van, she threw herself through the open door and onto the seat. Hearing it close behind her, she slumped over, her breath short. She felt a sob rise in her throat, but she repressed it; there were more important things to take care of. After a moment of regaining her breath, she had the presence of mind to remember: "There's someone else..." she panted. "Down the street... we have to..."

OOC: Yo, Sadie's back..... WITH A VENGANCE!!! And Tasha thinks you're all very dumb, going after zombies like that. Tasha: Yeah, and you all call ME crazy? Right. Here's the pic, as promised: img206.imageshack.us/img206/9910/tashakm4.jpgIC: Tasha walked quickly but carefully up the basement stairs, carrying a box of canned food. As she walked through the front room her cousin Zach was sitting on the floor playing a video game that he'd probably been playing since he got home from school. Gods, she thought, He probably doesn't even know yet."Hey, what are you doing?" he asked her, not looking up from the screen. She stopped, wondering how best to answer this delicate question. In all of her years living with the family he'd done notihng but ridicule her while she prepared. Did he even deserve to know? "Turn on the news. After I leave. You'll find out soon enough." It seemed a bit calloused and cruel not to help him, but frankly she wouldn't be able to stand having him along. He was an idiot, plain and simple and she had no room for idiots. Especially ones that backtalked the way he always did. "Whatever." He played for a few seconds after his automatic response but then stopped, pausing his game. "Hold on, wait. Turn on the news?" Tasha had been almost out the door and she sighed, backtracking to where she could see him as she spoke to him. "Yes, the news. You know, that boring channel where they talk about real life? Guy in a suit behind a desk? Any of this ringing a bell?" "Shut up, I know what the news is." "That's good. Stop talking to me, I have to go now." "Wait... wait, why?" There was a bit of curiosity and something that could be taken as fear in his voice, but she didn't pay attention. She kept walking out the door and to the pickup truck in the back of which she'd already placed a few other boxes. "Tasha, wait!" Zach jumped up, angry. He followed her outside and to the vehicle. "Where the hell do you think you're going?" "You really wanna know, Zach? You really wanna know?" She whirled around to face him, a tone of exhasperation evident. He looked at her tensely awaiting an answer. "I'll put this bluntly so your caveman brain can comprehend: I was right, you were wrong, the zombies are here and if we don't leave we're all gonna die. Okay?" With that she strode away and back into the house, letting out a small growling noise. Zach stood stationary, her words attempting to sink in. "Wait... uh..." He turned and followed her again incredulously. "No. No way. What do you mean? No. Zombies? Hell no. What?" "Did I NOT make it clear enough?" she kept moving down the stairs, regretting telling him. This was ridiculous. "The zom-bies are here. I go now, find safe-ty." "But... but that just can't happen!" He still followed her, staying a few steps behind. "Uh, heh, YES, it can. I've TRIED to tell you for many years, Zach." She picked up another box and thrust it into his hands, telling him, "If you're going to be annoying, at least be useful." He took it without complaint or much thought, obviously still in shock. After grabbing another box for her own arms the pair walked back up the stairs, Tasha in the lead. "So..." Zach said quietly, "So this... this is really happening, isn't it?" "Oh my God, Zach, YES, YES this is happening! What have I been freaking telling you?" She put the box in the truck with the others and Zach did the same before stopping her and looking at her desperately. "Tasha... Tasha you know what to do, right? You know how to get away! You know how to kill them! You can get rid of them!" He held onto her upper arms tightly the fear and desperation now evident in his face. "Get rid of them? What the hell do you think I am, Wonder Woman?" She first retorted sarcastically but amazingly enough softened just a little when his face fell further. "Yes, Zach, I think I know how to get away. I have a plan and I do know how to survive in these conditions." "Where will you go?" He was paniced, actually clutching her tighter. "Ouch. I'm going out in the country. Less people there. Let go, I have to finish packing!" Tasha wrenched herself away from his death grip, quickly going back into the house. "Tasha, you have to take us with you!" Zach ran after her and she once again had to force away a smile. Guess I'm not so crazy after all, eh Zach?" she thought on her way down the stairs. "Zach, I can't. I can't wait for Dave and Gina to get home, they won't be in for hours. We don't have that kind of time." "But we have to! Take me with you! Take me and we can go get them!" "Zach." She actually stopped and turned to face him, very serious. "I've thought about this, and I can't risk that. They both work in the city, which is the worst place to be right now." Zach seemed to crumble a little at the thought of his parents being there, and about not going to help them. "I'm sorry, Zach. I'm not going to save them." Tasha saw a few tears well up in his eyes, but he choked them back down as best as he could. "You... you're not?" "No, Zach. If..." She sighed, not believing she was actually saying this. "If you SWEAR you'll do exactly what I tell you when I tell you to do it... you can come with me. I'll need help anyway." "I swear." Tasha could tell that at that point he'd agree to anything, but she was kind of glad to have the help. "Right, then. Help me get the rest of these boxes up, we need to leave as soon as possible." She went back to her businesslike way of talking to him. She was calm and level headed, knowing that she had to remain that way no matter what happened.

OOC: Yeah, well, Cindy thinks Tasha is a freakhead. XD So - how are they all gonna get in one place togetha? Right now most of us are in the park, but we have a van in which all of us (Jack, Fraya, Cindy, Cindy's dad, and Drake) can be driven elsewhere, so we can meet up somewhere along the line with Mark, Jet, Tasha and Zach.
Tasha looks lovely, Sadie dear. ^^
