Lyris was smiling to herself as her boss went yelling back to his office. Matthew walked passed him as he made his way toward her. “What are you doing here?” She asked frowning.
He shrugged “I just thought that today was a boring day and I came to visit you.” He knelt down and moved some of the things on the shelves. “What’s up with you today? Even I can tell this is in the wrong spot.” Lyris said nothing. He poked her. “Come on! Pick up the pace. I don’t want to sit here all day.”
She gave him a funny look “I still have to finish my time frame. You should know that.”
“Ya, but I think that you need a new job anyways.” He said grinning
Lyris pushed him aside with a playful smile. “I’ll play hooky after the fifteenth, I want to get my paycheck first.” She went back to her cart of food that need to be put away. “Blarg I don’t care.” She began to shove the food into random spots.
“Hey! Do your job slacker!” Matthew said standing up.
“You’re the one who wants me to quit!” she argued back.
“Ya well, if you want to keep it, then do it right!” He said with a smirk. Lyris scowled and muttered darkly to herself. “What was that?” He asked leaning over. A smile played on his lips.
“If I wanted you to hear that I would have said it louder.” Lyris said matter-of-factly “Now go find something to do until I’m done!”
Ooc: heh heh heh Oh, just so you know, Lyris is a total coward. She will act all tough but sh e is so not. > ) It makes her really fun to play.

Danny looked over at his new charge as she got into the car. He hoped she appreciated the speed with which he had evactuated the giant pile of trash that had inhabited the passenger's seat. Now most of it was in a trashbag in the trunk of the vehicle.
He shut the door after her and walked around to the driver's side, where he promptly sat down. He looked over at her, trying to gauge her mental state. "You, ah, might want to put on your seat belt. I'm confident in my driving skills, of course, but not so much with the people around me. After making sure she was buckled in, Danny turned on the car and drove off.
"Why? Why did they invent one way streets?" Danny muttered to no one in particular. "I didn't expect both of these people to be in the same general area." He looked out at the gridlock in front of him. I hate cities. Hate 'em!"
After a few more hours of aimless wandering around the city, searching in vain for another Talented person, Danny had a serious need to use the bathroom. He stopped the car in the parking lot of a local supermarket. "Well, I gotta use the bathroom. You need anything?" He asked his passenger.

OOC: Nope! All are still welcome at this point, though once we get farther into the story, it'll be harder to fit in.

OOC: Ok, after staying up really late and getting yelled by my parent, my char is ready. Cryss is also a pyro, just to let you know.
IC:
Why me? I didn't ask for this...
Cyrss started down at her wet leather-covered palms as she stood on a corner, waiting for the bus to Washington DC in the pouring rain. Suddenly before she realized what had happened she was totally and completely soaked (if she wasn't already) to the bone. As soon as she had realized what had happened and as soon as she had located the car, Cryss did what any normal rational human being would do.
"WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING YOU INCONSIDERATE JACKASS!" She screeched at the retreating tail lights.
Disgusted, the sixteen-year-old shook her bright blue hair, braid whipping from side. She considered belting out more obscenites to let the driver know exactly how she felt, except that the bus arrived. Cryss climbed on board, still muttering vague plots and plans of revenge if she ever met that driver.
She showed the bus driver her ticket before walking to the back of the bus and flopping down on a seat, wringing out her braid and slipping off her pack home to see if any of her stuff was more than rather damp. She was in the process of checking her books when she felt a tap on the shoulder. She turned irritably to see a girl about her own age looking at her, with bright green eyes, chin resting on the top of Cryss's seat.
"What?" "I noticed you looked pretty wet coming on. Want a towel to dry off with?" "Why'n-"
Cryss broke off in mid-snarl to sneeze forcefully. The girl coughed, smothering a giggle and Cryss's rethought the girl's offer. The thought of sitting in wet clothes, chafing at her cold and clammy skin for an hour or so did not make Cryss jump for joy.
"I could use a towel." "And some dry clothing...and a cold pill while I'm at it. I can lend yo-" "I don't need anything more than a towel, ok? Just 'cuz some creep zoomed through a puddle, dumping a shitload of water on me in the process, it doesn't mean I need a hospital."
As Cryss opened her mouth to continue the rant, she sneezed again. The girl nodded before dissapearing back into her seat. Nice job Cryss, there went that towel. Damn now I'm gonna be stuck stewing in body temp water for the rest of the ride.
"Here ya go." "Huh?" "The towel, dolt. Sorry if I seemed a bit over-charitous." "Oh. Thanks."
Cryss accepted the fluffy green towel and started scrubbing at the bright buzz surrounding her mohawk. In a few minutes, her hair was fairly dry along with her face neck and arms. Her jacket and hooded sweatshirt were drapped ober over two other empty seats, and Cryss's was shivering in just her black top. The girl had introduced herself as Rita. Rita now cocked her head looking at Cryss shivering.
"You want to change? I can use the blanket to hide you from the others." "Y-y-yeah. Thanks Rita. Just let me get a change of clothes."
Cryss dug through her bag and pulled out fresh tanktop, sweatshirt and pants. Rita held up another towel as Cryss contorted to dry and change in the little space provided on a Greyhound bus. Feeling warmer now that she was dry and clothed in warm cotton and polar fleece. She and rita talked for a bit before Rita had to get off. Cryss waved as the bus rumbled off before falling asleep.
OOC: Long post...it was hard to find a good stopping point.

OOC: No prob! Welcome to the thread! You sure you want another pyro in the thread? No pressure, just wondering.
IC:
"Um, no. No, I'm fine. I'll wait in the car." Jen vaguely nodded to Danny and gave him a quick smile. After he left she found herself alone in the car, surrounded by complete silence. It was still pretty early so there weren't many people in the parking lot yet. She blinked slowly, then pulled down the visor in front of her. Flipping up the cover on the standard mirror she began attempting to deal with her hair. Keep Busy, keep distracted. She found that she had a hair scrunchie around her wrist she had forgotten about which she proceeded to pull her hair back with.
Once that was done, she had nothing left to do. She stared at her reflection in the mirror, unable to keep her mind off of the previous night, off of what she had done. What she could do. Her hands began to shake and her face suddenly felt very warm. That face staring back at her made her feel uncomfortable. She became suddenly all too aware of reality and of the weight of the situation. She was sitting in the car of a man she'd just met because for some reason she was able to make flames with her bare hands.
Tears began to well up in her eyes and her breathing turned into small strangled gasps. Unable to look at her reflection any more she slammed the visor back up and curled into a small ball on the seat. "Damn it... God damn it..." she whispered, clenching her fists. "How did this happen...?"

IC: Lyris was back at the shelves again, stacking more stuff. It seemed like all she could do that day. Her mind kept wandering back to that morning with her co-worker. Every time they got close enough to speak, Lyris would turn her head and pretended no to notice her. It was sad to do that to her, she was really nice, but she just couldn't talk to her at the moment.
Lyris was plunged back into reality as Matthew made his re-entrance. He grinned broadly and called her name as he jogged down the aisle. Lyris frowned. “Come on, come on. Pick up the pace.” He said as he stopped in front of her. “I want to go do something today.” “I already told you, I have to wait until I finish my shift--” But she was cut off buy a man clearing his throat behind them. They both looked over at the man. He was a very thin man with glasses and a business suit. He held a clipboard in one hand and an envelope in the other. “Lyris Swanson. Correct?” he asked in a bland manner. Lyris nodded and he continued. “This is for you.” He said handing her the envelope. “You can leave with your friend now. I’m sorry but we no longer need you.” With that he turned and left.
Lyris stared at the envelope in shock. “I’m…being let go?” she asked slowly. “Well…Hey! At least you got your check first.” Matthew said trying to cheer her up. She said nothing, but staggered a little before sitting down on the floor.
Matthew looked down at her then looked away biting his lip. He turned around again with a bright look on his face. “You must be hungry. Let’s go get lunch, my treat.”
“Ya, lunch sounds nice.” She said in the same slow voice. She put the letter away but didn’t move from her spot on the ground.
Ooc: Welcome! =D

OOC: Yeah but there are a few differences. Cryss can't create fire, it needs to already exist, but she can control and manipulate it. There are a few other things but I reveal those as we go along.

OOC: Yeah, our two characters would be a good team. Jen can provide the fire and still do something, and Cryss can "skim" bits off fire for her own purposes. Whose turn is it to post?

OOC: You try working nine hours a day without a break (At least they let me have Christmas day off), and then talk to me about posting. Roar, I hate money.
IC: Danny stepped into the supermarket, the doors closing behind him with a quiet whoosh. He half walked, half waddled over to one of the employees. "Excuse me, do you have any bathrooms here?" The employee gestured vaguely near the back of the store without actually saying anything. "Thanks." Danny said in reply, somewhat sarcastically. He hurried down the aisles towards where he hoped the bathrooms were located. Movement caught his eye, and stopped for a second to see what it was.
A girl sat on the floor, with a man standing over her, speaking in a comforting voice. Danny shook his head. Something had obviously happened to unnerve the girl. Maybe a death in the family? It wasn't his business anyway. He turned to continue on his way when he caught the name on the girl's tag. It sounded familiar for some reason.
"Swanson, swanson, swanson..." Danny mumbled to himself. Suddenly, it dawned on him. He practically ran down to the bathroom and relieved himself at top speed before sprinting back down through the aisle to where Lyris was still sitting. "Ms. Swanson?" He said before taking a deep breath. "I have a rather interesting proposition for you."

Ooc: heh heh heh sorry. I wan't sure if you wanted to put something in or not >.>......
Ic: Lyris looked up at the new comer with a dull expression. She didn’t recognize him at all. Should she? He seemed to know her, or maybe it was just her name tag.
Matthew looked down at Lyris, then to the man, and then back again. He seemed like he wanted to say something, but he held his tongue. Lyris slowly got to her feet and looked over the man. Her face was still pale from the event that had just happened, but she seemed more in control of herself. “A proposition?” She asked trying to put a little life into her voice. “Like what?”
