People have always believed in magic. Even if it was only during their childhood, every person who’s walked this earth has believed in the existence of something supernatural, whether it be unicorns, elves, mages, demons, angels, or anything else the world can dream up. And in this modern era, we sometimes wonder what spawned these myths. Any historian will simply tell you they were made by earlier peoples as a type of religion, but that doesn’t satisfy many people. Some will tell you these things really exist, or did at some point, but most of us stopped believing before we reached our teens. Therefore, not everyone believes those few who tell the truth. They are labeled “Head case” and shipped off to an institution.
If only we’d listened to their tales. If only we’d known that years ago, the same rumors flitted around the globe, but in a different form. People spoke of a place called Palatina, where creatures roamed both human and not, with minds that equaled or surpassed ours but odd bodies and strange powers that we shunned them for, causing them to flee to this small town. However, there was a lesser known ghost town as well, a place unnamed, but still whispered of on moonlit nights. The same creatures were said to live there, but it was also said their motives were not the pure ones shared by residents of Palatina. But rumors are only rumors... so nobody but the Palatinans knew when Palatina was attacked by the other village.
The battle was fabled to last 10 years before any human found out. Then one day, a young boy followed a butterfly’s path into the woods but soon lost sight of the insect. He cried and ran, dashing around randomly until he crashed upon the chaotic magic battle. Horrified but awed, the boy watched for a second, then darted back to the village, finding his way as quick as he could and taking the townspeople with him.
When the town arrived, all battle stopped in an instant at the sight of the humans who had almost become a myth unto themselves to the Palatinans and others. But they still remembered, if even vaguely, and so struck with terror, once again they fled. They now knew, however, that simply moving to another place here would not help. So, using the power of both the Palatinans and their foes, a portal was quickly formed. Within seconds, each and every magic citizen had leapt through, and when the final creature disappeared... the portal did too.
From then on, the Palatinans and their foes both lived in another world, guarding the portal that was never closed. But the unnamed people lived in anger at the people who had driven them away, and eventually decided not to fear them... but to attack them. They stole the portal from the Palatinans and used it to return to our world, where they plotted a war that would obliterate all human life. The Palatinans panicked, for although humankind had driven them to flee, they didn’t deserve to be killed, especially since the generations had changed, and by now not a soul of that village was living. So they devised a plan.
Each and every Palatinan, the old and the young, the males and the females, and everyone in between, pooled afew of each of their powers together to create an enormous ball of multicolor, mulisubstance fire that went hurtling to earth in several comets. Each comet found it’s way to one human, and entering their soul, empowered them. Many things hapened to these people, depending on what powers, and who’s powers, they had recieved. But all of them became powerful, and now, these people, who aren’t any longer, have become the world’s final hope.
Name: Macha Telemain
Age: 17
Race: Mage (Telepath.)
Occupation: Varies (currently a waitress)
History: She barely knew her parents, who died in a car crash when she was young. She was instead raised in a convent in New York City, where she began to show signs of telepathy at the age of 4, when she started answering questions posed by her friends in thought only. Then one day, she woke up screaming from a dream in which her best friend was killed in a drive-by-shooting. When that exact event occured the next day, Macha was turned out on the streets at the mere age of 8, wondering what she had done wrong. She joined a small street-group of children that she stayed with for 4 more years until she, by now the oldest member who had survived all these years only by her ever-developing telepathy, left and hooked up with a girl-gang who she's staying with now, doing everything; stealing, clubbing, etc., to keep herself and the rest of her 7 member gang alive. They share a penthouse, earned by pooling money.
Appearance: Short (boyish cut) black hair, shot through with red streaks shaped like lightning bolts. Dark, almost black eyes. Several tattoos; two bracelet style ones on her right wrist, one on her left, a Chinese dragon curled around her bellybutton and eating it’s own tail, a plain black design covering her back, and one more bracelet style tattoo on her right ankle. Also, several piercings, i.e. one bellybutton ring, three piercings in her left eyebrow and one in her left, a stud in her tongue, three piercings in the bottom of her right ear, two in the bottom of her left ear, and four more in the top of her left ear. Wears a lot of leather stuff and a lot of retro clothing as well.
Likes: Her friends, gambling, body art, fighting, indie music.
Dislikes: Perverted men, labels, not being in control, her current job, close minded people, Christians.
