Aha, I understand completely. I'll do the best I can to help you out! I'm not sure how much you know, so I'll just explain all the basics.
On the main page there are the different RP boards such as fantasy RPing and other RPing, these should be pretty self-explanatory genres. In each board there are the threads, which are the particular stories. This is where things can get delicate. Unless a thread says otherwise in the title or one of the posts, it can be assumed that it is open for anyone who wants to join. There are sometimes specific rules posted by the thread creator, but otherwise there are just some courtesy guidelines that are important to keep in mind: -No controlling of other peoples' characters without permission -No driving the plot to center around your own character unless you have permission or it's your thread -Attempt to make posts at least a paragraph (it's just nicer to read and better for the plot) -Attempt to write using good grammar and spelling (again, it's just nicer to read) -No killing of other peoples' characters without permission -Attempt to state your character's name at least once in every post -Attempt not to post twice in a row (also referred to as "double posting") -Do not make your character too powerful or omnipotent (there are exceptions made for villains, however)
That was everything I could think of for now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or any other experienced RPer. Basically it boils down to being courteous and respectful of the other writers, which I'm sure you'll have no problem doing! ^^

Oh, sorry about that. "IC" stands for "in character" while "OOC" stands for "out of character". Yeah, when I first started RPing I had to ask someone because I had NO clue what it meant either. : P You use them if you're posting on a story thread and want to write something that isn't part of the story, or isn't "in character". You start whatever you have to say by typing "OOC:" to indicate that it's just you talking, and when you want to switch to actually writing the story again you type "IC:" so that people know what it is you're doing. ^^ Hope that cleared it up for you!
